Since 2002, Outback Events has developed and operated the Outback Events Triathlon Series and is owned and operated by Joe and Sarah Dixon. With over thirty races produced over the last nine years Outback has also hosted Provincial and National level championship events. From 2006 to 2010 Joe was the race director for the largest triathlon in Canada, Subaru Ironman Canada, which hosts 2,800 athletes each year during race week.
When we started Outback in 2002 it was with the goal of being a multisport company so that we would always look at the best venues and event options possible without being hung up on only doing one thing. We’re very excited to offer this new event in yet another incredible venue that provides a challenging scenic course as well as a great host community.
Mission is the venue for the first event due to its proximity to Vancouver, community size, community spirit, a history of community supported events, a beautiful cycling venue and available facilities.
The event is not a race but a mass participation ride. It is a cycling event to encourage participation, not racing though a pro category with prize purse is being considered. The distances for the Sunday event will be a 70Km ride and a 120Km ride on mostly rural roads and with little or no impact to traffic within the community. Athletes will be coming to the event from the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada.
